New Jersey State Association of Pipe Trades Endorses Rebecca Bennett for Congress
The union previously endorsed Kean Jr. in 2024
SOMERVILLE, NJ — Today, the New Jersey State Association of Pipe Trades (NJSAPT) announced their endorsement of Rebecca Bennett for Congress in New Jersey’s seventh district. The Pipe Trades represents over 12,000 members and includes the United Association (UA) Locals 9, 24, 274, 322, 475, 669, 692, 696, and 855. The group cited Rebecca’s commitment to working across the aisle, investing in apprenticeship programs, and her understanding of the importance of creating good paying union jobs that strengthen the middle class as reasons for the endorsement.
The NJSAPT had previously been part of a Building Trades endorsement for Congressman Tom Kean Jr.’s campaign in 2024.
“I am grateful to have the support of Pipe Trades in this race. While touring the Local 9 facility, I saw firsthand how the Pipe Trades is building the next generation of union labor while ensuring that members can continue to grow in their trade. I look forward to working together to make sure that we can connect veterans with these important programs, stand up for collective bargaining, and ensure that New Jersey families can break into the middle class with a good union job,” said Rebecca Bennett.
“The Pipe Trades are looking to endorse leaders who are willing to fight for our values and have the tough conversations and we don’t base our support on politics or party affiliation. We’re proud to endorse Rebecca Bennett because we know that she’ll fight for us. Rebecca will stand up for collective bargaining rights and make sure that we have the resources we need to expand apprenticeship programs and recruit veterans to the trades. We will have a seat at the table as we pursue an “all of the above” energy approach to help lower utility bills for New Jerseyans. The Pipe Trades will work to ensure that Rebecca wins in November so that we have a leader we can count on in Congress to help us grow the middle class,” said Mike Tranberg, President of the New Jersey State Association of Pipe Trades.
